Faces Behind The Scenes

GSU AMA wants its members to get to know one another. Each month Involvement will feature an officer of the GSU AMA Executive Board, so that members can learn more about their fellow members.

This month’s featured officer is Chapter President, Heidi Womack. Heidi joined GSU AMA as a freshman in 2003. Her position as a student assistant in the Department of Marketing at Georgia State introduced her to the chapter. She was recruited to serve as Chapter President in 2004 and is carrying out her second term in office.

Although she is an active leader of GSU AMA, Heidi is also a member of other organizations on campus. She is a sister of Delta Zeta and a member ofAlpha Lambda Delta. She is a Berner Scholar and works as the Programs Assistant for the GSU Marketing Department.

When asked how her involvement with GSU AMA has affected her life, Heidicannot count the contributions. “Being a part ofAMA is an invaluable experience to any marketing student,” she says. “Personally, AMA has taught me countless lessons concerning organizations, planning, and people management.”

Organizational skills are not the only thing Heidi says the AMA has provided her. “AMA has given me a sense of pride in somethingbigger than a college club; it has given me the benefit of working with the some of the brightest students at this university, and I have foundmany friends through my interaction with others in theGSU chapter.”

GSU AMA Celebrates AMA Week 10/3 – 10/7
Non-members Encouraged to Attend

AMA Week is a time for GSU AMA to represent its purpose on Georgia State campus. Throughout the week, the chapter aims to educate students and faculty on the numerous benefits of our organization and recruit new members.

GSU AMA will host its AMA week Monday, October 3 – Friday, October 7.  These five days represent a time for all current chapter members to work together and get to know each other better.

GSU AMA has planned several events to celebrate its success at Georgia State University. All AMA Week activities are open to members and include a variety of events.

“There are so many things you can do with a marketing degree, and a lot of students aren’t aware of that,” says

Director of Membership, Ashley Wilkinson. “It is important to expose students to different professions so they can get a well-rounded view of the marketing field.”

The overall goal of GSU AMA is to provide just that – diverse programs for students that will assist them in developing their marketing career choices.

The chapter encourages its members to spread the word and invite fellow classmates along for the week’s events.
